After 5 Networking at Aperitivo Bar, Leichhardt

Last night I attended an After 5 Networking event hosted by Leichhardt Chamber of Commerce and David Baumgarten’s Business Enterprise Centre.

Locals gathered at 5pm in this swish relatively-new establishment – Aperitivo Bar – in Norton Street, Leichhardt and over 50 people turned up, which made it a huge success.

This was my first time attending the After 5′s, and I’m looking forward to the next one already!

I met an amazing group of people from all walks of life, with marvellous businesses and ideas – it shows the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well … and kicking! :-)

I provided one of my handpainted silk scarves for a Lucky Door Prize, and was thrilled to be able to share something I’ve lovingly created with its new owner. You can see how I make them here >>

Local gatherings like this are imperative for the small business owner, work-at-home Mum, or solopreneur. No hard sell, no forceful tactics, no hidden agendas – everyone was there with a view to meeting other business folk, whether techies or arty-farty, accountants or feng shui experts.

For those who work at home, this type of event is the lifeblood of survival, of feeling less isolated, and provides the important connections – emotional as well as business – needed to keep the spirits high. I like to think of this as the antidote to when your ‘get up and go’ has ‘got up and gone‘ :-)

Attend one of these, tell your story – or provide your 3 minute pitch – and put everything you’ve got into it, be PASSIONATE, LIVE your story, and truly listen to others’ stories with great interest.

This is the best antidote to the work-at-home or work-on-your-own blues ever invented :-)
