Where to publish your own photo books

November 30, 2009 No Comments

For the past few years it has been a dream of mine to put some of my travel photos into book format and self-publish them.

This means I would need to use a print-on-demand or publish-on-demand service, and there are a few very good ones now.

I’ve always had a softspot for Lulu.com so that’s where I have finally created a 40 page coffee-table book of some of my photos of Paris. I added the last photo last night, and just have to finish the introduction … then click that PUBLISH button! I’m very excited!

Publish online:

Each service has a lot to offer, so do your research and go with the one which is right for you. Some offer acceptance into Amazon.com – for a fee – which is mighty attractive.

I suggest you publish a book using one of these services ‘privately’ (so no-one else can buy), buy a copy for yourself, feel it in your hands, savour it, then work out how to make it better.

Once you’ve done that, publish it for the general public.

Can’t wait to order my very own first printed book – WOOHOOO!!
